This a Lodging adventure
We will meet in Himeville, at the foothills of Sanipass, from where our adventure will begin. We will ascent Sanipass at a leisurely pace, allowing ample time to stop and take in the natural beauty. Upon arriving at the lodge, we will unpack, and have enough time to explore the surrounding area. Drinks can be had in the highest pub in Africa, whilst gazing over the lower lying vistas. Dinner will be served at the lodge restaurant
After an early start, we will enjoy breakfast. As our journey to Katse dam takes anything up to 8 hours, we hit the road as soon as possible. Today you will experience endless mountains, good tar roads as well as one of the higest gravel passes in Lesotho. Our journey cuts through the heart of the Mountain Kingdom, all the way to the centre of Lesotho, and the jewel of the Highlands water project – Katse Dam. This is where we will be spending the night, with dinner served at the lodge.
Again rising early, we will depart after breakfast. Today is our longest drive towards Semokong. The day will be spent driving on good tar roads, up and down many mountains and through many passes. Although we only drive around 330km, it will take us almost the whole day, arriving at Semokong Lodge as the sun starts dipping in the West. Dinner and drinks will be served at the Lodge restaurant and bar.
Today is at leisure, and after breakfast, we will take a leisurely drive to the Highest single drop waterfall in Africa – The Maletsuyane falls – the water drops in one fall over 200m, truly a spectacular view. For the adventure hungry, we will arrange a Donkey tour of Semokong, visiting the Lesotho Blanket Lady. This is a must on the to-do-list, and you will find out all there is to know about the Lesotho blanket tradition. For the people wishing to take some time off, drinks will be had at the open air restaurant, on the banks of the Maletsuyane River. Again dinner will be served at the lodge restaurant.
Today after breakfast we will be heading back to South Africa, retracing our steps towards the town of Roma, and onwards to Maseru border post. Once the entire group has safely passed through the border, we will be taking our own routes back home until another Adventure calls us to the heart of Africa.
