On the off road front Cross Country had an extremely positive day on the 23rd at the ADA facility near the Hartbeespoort Dam. Nissan and the Nissan Off-road Club hosted around 350 people (90 vehicles) and invited us to join them and advise the customers on their insurance needs. The facility had a small test track where the guests were able to test the latest Nissan 4×4’s, and then they had the opportunity to hone their driving skills on the gravel skidpan.
We had anticipated about 25 of the guests going on the out ride over a nearby mountain but were amazed when 60 vehicles left the facility and were even more amazed when most of them tackled the really rough stuff and ignored the escape route. Catering was provided by the “Vroue Federasie” who raised funds for the Old Age Home at the Dam. Roughly R5000.00 was raised raffling some donated prizes which the Club will give to “Free Me” a wildlife rehabilitation center who do great work with injured animals.
To assist the customers experts were on hand from SecureTech to advise on recovery equipment and technique.
